Ian Wright's Passionate Analysis Of England vs Scotland Proves Gareth Southgate Got It Massively Wrong

Ian Wright said what every England fan was thinking after the Three Lions were held to a 0-0 draw with Scotland at Wembley.

Following up on their 1-0 triumph against Croatia, England failed to create much, with John Stones' finest opportunity coming in the first half, when he headed against the post after an amazing leap.

For the second straight Euro 2020 group game, captain and star Harry Kane was practically invisible in his 74 minutes on the pitch, failing to register a shot on target.

England had a very dismal night, as Arsenal great Wright summed up in his post-match comments.

The 57-year-old stated he was "embarrassed" with England, and had strong feelings over the choice to deploy Phil Foden as a replacement rather than Jadon Sancho as a bench option.

"There's no way Foden should be leaving the pitch today... you've got Sancho on the bench - 15 goals and 20 assists a season - and he doesn't even get on," Wright said on ITV.

"We need to create... I'm embarrassed for us today."

Fans were inclined to agree with Wright's assessment, including Manchester City supporter and former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher.

After Friday's results, England are second in Group D, only behind Czech Republic on goal difference. The two sides meet at Wembley in the final group game on Tuesday.
