England's first tournament meeting with Scotland since Euro 96 ended in a goalless draw, as neither side could find the quality to take the three points.
John Stones hit a post with a towering first-half header, but the fact England's best chance of the match fell to the Manchester City defender summed up the performance.
Scotland were fully deserving of their first point of Group D, while questions are being asked of Harry Kane after another subdued effort. But who impressed - and who had a disappointing evening at Wembley?
Jordan Pickford - 8
His distribution is sometimes a cause of concern, but he produced one brilliant save - plunging low to his right to keep out a goal-bound shot, and generally dominated his area.

Is the natural option on the left, but was subdued going forward and solid in defence. Did he do enough to keep his place?

Tyrone Mings - 8
At 1m 96, the Aston Villa man is a towering presence. He needed all of his height on a couple of occasions to snuff out the threat of Scotland. Harry Maguire may be pushing for a start, but Mings has done nothing wrong so far at Euro 2020.
Reece James - 6
Did not offer the threat going forward that he does for Chelsea, but made a brilliant headed clearance off his own line in the second half.
James puts the sweetest balls in day in day out but in an England shirt its non existent, striling doesn't deserve a start, kane poor again,

Kalvin Phillips - 6
Was not as dominant as against Croatia, but is a calming influence in the middle of the park and is the sort of player that you'd notice if he was not in the team.
Declan Rice - 6
Solid rather than spectacular, but is an integral piece of Gareth Southgate's thinking.

Mason Mount - 6
Is seen as the man to unlock the door of the opposition with his desire and craft. Cannot be faulted in terms of the runs he made, but lacked that bit of quality on the night.
Raheem Sterling - 5
Had to start after his match-winning performance against Croatia and he began well, with a darting run crafting England's first chance. However, it proved a false down and his influence waned as the game went on.
Raheem Sterling has been absolutely abysmal and Southgate has never looked like taking him off. Absolutely pathetic management.

Phil Foden - 6
England's great young hope started brightly, making darting runs into the box and showed some mesmeric touches but he faded in the second half and departed just after the hour mark.
Harry Kane - 3
Is he fit? It's a question worth asking as once again the England captain offered little. Too often he would drop deep or drift to the flanks, thus denying the likes of Sterling and Foden a target to hit.

For the second match running, Kane replaced for #eng after a subdued performance. He was barely involved, really, and didn't look himself again. Fitness? Future? Or struggling with his role in the side?
