After president Florentino Perez led the project, the Real Madrid team bus has to fight through anti-Super League protestors in Cadiz... until Karim Benzema's double in a 3-0 victory propels them back to the top of the table. The top of LaLiga.

  • Real Madrid eased to a comfortable 3-0 victory at Cadiz to go top of LaLiga
  • Real have gone level on points with Atletico Madrid, who play on Thursday
  • Karim Benzema netted two first-half goals at the Estadio Ramon de Carranza
  • French striker also provided assist for Alvaro Odriozola to grab Madrid's second

Real Madrid's team bus had to pass through a Cadiz fan rally before their La Liga game on Wednesday night, but there was no opposition once on the field. Picking up an easy 3-0 win, go top of LaLiga.

Cadiz fans held a banner criticizing the 'Super League Mafia' as the bus carrying Madrid's players made its way to the Ramon de Carranza Stadium. Still, once the game had started, they were 3-0 up before halftime.
Before the game, Cadiz wore shirts that read "football is for the fans." Similar jerseys were worn in LaLiga matches against the Super League.

The protests and the fact that Madrid had to send out another under-strength squad due to injury may easily have distracted Madrid. However, they were quickly safely ahead after 20-year-old Antonio Blanco made his first start for the team and impressed in midfield.

On the half-hour, Karim Benzema scored from the spot after Iza had brought down Vinicius. Three minutes later, Alvaro Odriozola headed in Benzema's cross after Nacho had won the ball back for Zinedine Zidane's team.

The Benzema display was full four minutes before the break when he headed in Casemiro's cross for his 21st goal of the season.
Cadiz's Choco Lozano came close in the second half, but Madrid stayed dominant and should have extended their lead had Mariano Diaz not missed his attempt.

Marcelo said: 'We started well, pressing them high. The game might have seemed not too demanding for us but it was. We are going to fight for the title right until the end of the season.'

He was asked about the collapsed breakaway of his club into a new European Super League. After saying: 'We are looking forward to the Champions League game against Chelsea,' he added: 'I'd rather not talk about it. I would rather talk about the fact that we are top.'
