The duo have long been synonymous with transfers to the Santiago Bernabeu and this week they all turned in amazing results in the Champions League.

Both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland have been closely identified with transfers to Real Madrid, and this week the pair put on a sparkling Champions League display.

With a sensational hat-trick for Paris Saint-Germain, Mbappe sunk Barcelona, while Haaland inspired Borussia Dortmund in their comeback victory over Sevilla with two goals.

Their exciting results have prompted us to speculate that the next defining player rivalry in the game may be Mbappe v Haaland, and now Zinedine Zidane has had his say.

Mbappe or Haaland: Who does Zidane prefer?

"I watch all the games and I like to see great things like any fan," Zidane told reporters. "They are both very good and very young, players of the present and for the future.
"Whether one or the other, I won't say, everyone has their own preferences."
Reports also indicated that Madrid needs to position Mbappe and Haaland at the Santiago Bernabeu in the same squad, although it remains to be seen if the club can afford either right now.

Benzema could miss Champions League clash

Zidane also announced that for his side's trip to Real Valladolid in La Liga on Saturday, striker Karim Benzema would not be available.

"Something came up yesterday, he won't be with us tomorrow," Zidane said. "We'll see for next week."
On Wednesday, Madrid fly to Atalanta for the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie, before league fixtures with Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid.
